Program Objectives
Providing a physical and culturally based space - a safe haven - where Paa Pii Wak Residents may seek refuge and shelter in a safe and secure environment, in their attempt to leave the gang lifestyle.Provide physical, emotional, mental and spiritual support where Aboriginal ex-gang members may begin their healing through cultural and traditional teachings.Paa Pii Wak gives information to ex-gang members about various employment and training opportunities as well as addition resources. Paa Pii Wak educates and counsels ex-gang members on the affects of gang activity towards society.
Paa Pii Wak is a supervised six bedroom house that supplies the needs to overcome
gang life. Men that are living at Paa Pii Wak House will stay here for a period of
3-12 months.
Resident Criteria
- Aboriginal Men, 18-30 years of age.
- An honest desire to leave gang and negative lifestyle.
- To have a desire to learn Aboriginal teachings and culture.
- In need of shelter and support for lifestyle change.
- Voluntary referrals welcome.
Resident Expectations
- Follow all house rules, including no violence, alcohol and drug use, or gang activity.
- To sign all legal forms.
- To follow through on all healing plan goals.
- To find employment and housing prior to leaving Paa Pii Wak.
Intake – Registration
Intake for Paa Pii Wak is conducted through the main office at 940-4247, between 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday.
